A Couple of Notable Newspaper Endorsements

The LA Times AND the Chicago Tribune both endorsed Obama for President today. Why is this notable? The Chicago Tribune (endorsement here) has not endorsed a Democrat for President since ... well, they NEVER have. And lest you think this is just some kind of hometown advantage, the Chicago Tribune did not endorse Adlai Stevenson (he was from Illinois too) for President either time he ran.

As for the LA Times (endorsement here), this is the first time they have endorsed ANY candidate since 1972 and it is also the first time they have ever endorsed a Democrat for President.
